In 2017, a devastating triple fatal fire broke out in the decommissioned gas meter room of the old Kinnear’s Rope Factory in Footscray. The police launched an extensive investigation, dubbed Operation SCALERS, with the primary goal of identifying the deceased, determining the cause of the fire, and tracking down the individual responsible for the tragic event.
The investigation involved gathering witness statements, reviewing security footage, and conducting a detailed forensic analysis of the fire scene. Police took extensive measures to collect all available evidence to build a strong case for prosecution, ensuring those responsible were held accountable.
