About Us

Victorian Association of Fire Investigators (VAFI)

The Victorian Association of Fire Investigators (VAFI) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting professionals involved in fire investigation and arson prevention across Victoria and Tasmania.

With over 250 members representing diverse sectors of the fire and investigation community, VAFI serves as a vital platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and continuous professional development. We deliver regular in-person and online training sessions, comprehensive case studies, and interactive forums to ensure our members remain current with industry best practices and maintain strong professional connections.

Founded in May 1993, VAFI holds the distinction of being Chapter 58 of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), with all IAAI membership standards and conditions applying to our organisation.

As part of our commitment to advancing the profession, VAFI offers scholarships to support members' professional development and educational pursuits. These scholarships reflect our dedication to fostering excellence and growth within the fire investigation community.

VAFI maintains strong collaborative relationships with our regional counterparts, including the Queensland Association of Fire Investigators (QAFI), New South Wales Association of Fire Investigators (NSWAFI), and the New Zealand Association of Fire Investigators (NZAFI), strengthening professional networks and knowledge exchange across Australasia.
